April Spotlight
The "new" trend in decorating is wallpaper. It's enjoying a tremendous resurgence. People who would NEVER have considered using it just a few years ago are discovering its flexibility and design charm. Patterns like grasscloth and toiles are timeless and will never go out of style. Color and bold swirls compete with geometric designs for a fresh take on the modern look. Tuscan influences are seen in gorgeous European vinyl papers. Plus, people are doing entire rooms not just a single accent wall. Did you know you could use wallpaper to camouflage uneven walls? Did you know there is wallpaper that is meant to be painted?
It isn't your grandmother's ugly paper anymore. The wallpaper industry has developed new papers and pastes that surpass anything from yesteryear. One new development in recent months has been the Paperez line of wallpapers by Eisenhart. Imagine wallpaper that goes on the wall dry (just roll the paste on the wall, not the paper), and it's easily removable in a full sheet... No more hassle when it's time to redecorate!
Not only that but Paperez is made to breathe, so it won't trap moisture on the wall, minimizing mold and mildew issues. The paper is made with no PVC's and it's printed with water-based inks. Check out the children's book, Just Imagine for great designs and Paperez style. For more information, visit Eisenhart's website, www.eisenhartwallcoverings.com.

Dear Robin ~
Q) I found a great paint color that I'd like to use in my living room, but I also need to purchase a new sofa. I am really eager to get started, but I've heard I should wait to paint until I purchase my sofa. At what point can I paint my walls?
A) It's the classic chicken and egg dilemma… and I want to encourage you to sit tight for a bit longer until you have settled on your sofa. It's a lot easier to find a paint color (and a lot cheaper) than it is to find the perfect sofa. We can even customize your paint if none of the chips work off the rack - try doing that with a large piece of furniture!
Consider bringing a selection of color chips with you to the furniture store; but try and keep you color direction flexible until the bigger decision has been made. This way, you'll have your color concepts in mind, and it might make it easier to narrow down your choices.
C2 Paint (www.C2color.com) makes the Ultimate Paint Chip, a poster-sized sample made from real paint. It's easy to see how your favorite color will look in relation to that nifty sofa because the 18" x 24" chip allows you to see the color in real-life scale. When you're shopping, you can rest it on the back of the sofa to get a good view of the color relationship.
Once the sofa is ordered you can get busy painting!
Tips & Tricks
Outdoor project time is just around the corner and this is a great time to check the condition of your home and decks. Look for gaps in the caulking or missing caulk around windows and doors, clogged gutters, and mold or mildew stains. Daly's House Wash Concentrate is perfect for cleaning painted, stained, and weathered exterior surfaces.
If repainting, sealing, or staining is necessary then use Daly's Deck and House Cleaner. Keep both products off glass surfaces. To lighten and remove discoloration due to water stains and weathering on wood surfaces use Daly's Wood Brightener. Rinse all products thoroughly with water and follow all precautions.
