How To Measure for Wallcoverings

Measuring Guidelines

Step 1
Measure the width and height of each wall in inches. Multiply the width inches by the height inches. Divide by 144. This equals your overall square footage.

Example: 144" wide X 90" tall = 12,960 ÷ 144 = 90 square feet.

Repeat this process for every wall to be covered with paper.

Step 2
Measure the width and height of each opening (windows and doors) in inches. Multiply these two numbers together. Divide by 144.

Step 3
Subtract the opening square foot number (Step 2) from the overall measurement (Step 1). This equals the total square feet to be covered with wallpaper

How Much Paper?

Most papers come packaged in "bolts", but we order paper using the term "rolls."

Wallcoverings are packaged in double roll bolts (2 rolls worth of paper on one bolt). Some come packaged as triple roll bolts.

Special consideration must be taken with grasscloth and other specialty wallcoverings.
